GRANDIOSE MT. PICO DE LORO

I was once a member of the mountaineering club way back in college but I never had a chance to climb in some of the peaks in Mindanao where I grew up and finished my college. On my opinion, why do I have to enervate myself when all I got is nothing but shivered knees and exhaustion? I’ve been to many places almost over Luzon and some parts of Visayas already. I am a beach bummer, nature lover. Roughly I do it almost every month but I never tried Hiking.
May 24th, 2014, my mind was already set for nature tripping before the summer ends, plunging the Majayjay Falls in Laguna-Quezon which excites me the most. On the contrary, my office mates were planning for mountain climbing on the same date, and made me think that if our trip won't happen I might go with them. And so, it turns out HIKING is really meant for me. Haha

We arrived at the DENR Ternate Cavite at 6.45am, the stop off point of all hikers, parking and registration area.
This is the opening point. We started on foot at exactly 7am. Since we are all newbie’s, we never tackled briefings or whatsoever. All of us were very excited of what is going to happen on the next few hours.

After an hour of strenuous trek, we arrived at the next stop off point where you need to register again your names and pay for another P25 contribution and which you also need to read some of the rules and guidelines before proceeding to the main point.

We been walking for 2 hours already and our stress reliever was taking selfie’s, thanks to Monopod..lol

This is Cindy who planned this entire thing. She even offers a free accommodation at their home in Naic,Cavite whoever wants to stay for a night.

And after 3 hour of trekking, finally we reached the first phase. At first, I was so disappointed with the place coz’ I’ve been looking for the Peak but I couldn’t find it. Only to find out that our trek is not yet done and we have to climb again for 20 minutes to reach the summit.

And this is Eric, the Boy Scout of our Group. He has everything what we need for; I mean from first aid kit to Hiking gears, he has it all. But we felt bad for him because he didn’t even reach the first summit for he has fear of heights. While others was very  excited including me to see the majestic view from the top.

view from the Top

When we reached the first summit, everyone was kept on pushing if who’ll be the first person to climb on the next cliff and while they were so busy arguing. I escaped from the group and immediately went down and they’re shouting like children, Nathan “astig”. Haha

Finally and I am proud to say that without any complete gears I made it to the top of Peak 2.

While I was at the top I challenged the others that whoever climbs up to the peak will get cronuts donuts!

And they followed. L Good thing was They don’t even know what cronuts is, instead I gave them JCo..lol
